No one likes to know the truth, especially when it means that they need to change their lives. Most of us, especially us Americans, are content with where we are in our lives. We hate change and love to stay in our ways, even if it means doing the wrong thing. We also love to make excuses so that we can attempt to justify our wrong doings.

The same thing is especially true when it comes to spirituality and religion. Most of us, including Christians, believe what we believe because we grew up with it. We have no basis of God’s Word but we just believe what we do because we’ve been told to. It’s because of these things, called traditions, that we have so many man-made doctrines out there today. One of the deadliest of those doctrines we will be discussing today.

As previously stated, we, as humans, love to justify our own sins and falsehoods. One of those sins that we often break is the commandment that Jesus Himself gave us regarding His Gospel:

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Mark 16:15 (KJV)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 24:45-47 (KJV)
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

In the above verses, it is obvious that Jesus commands us all to spread the truth of the Gospel, His Word and plan of Salvation. However, mankind has came up with a tradition, or commonly held belief, to justify their sin in not fulfilling His commandment. That tradition is that there is more than one way to reach God in Heaven.

To say that there is more than one way to God is to contradict God’s Holy Word. Let’s go through some reasons which explain why there is only one way to Heaven.

1. No works will get you to heaven.

It may surprise many of the readers, but works will never gain you eternal life. God’s Word tells us that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God:

Romans 3:23 (KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Since all have sinned against God, we are all deserving of death:

Romans 6:23 (KJV)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Even if you believe you are a good person, you still have sinned against God. Being good will not get you into Heaven, as is evident by the following verses:

Romans 3:27-28 (KJV)
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay:but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Galatians 2:16 (KJV)
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law:for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

2. Jesus Himself claimed to be the Way to Salvation.

John 4:14 (KJV)
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 3:36 (KJV)
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 6:35 (KJV)
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 6:40 (KJV)
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 14:5-6 (KJV)
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There are numerous other verses that prove there is only one way to Heaven, but suffice it to say that the Scriptures prove that Jesus is the only Way to Salvation.

Even though works cannot give you eternal life, that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. This is evident by the following verses:

Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV)
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

John 14:15 (KJV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

In conclusion, there is only one way to Salvation, and that is through Jesus Christ. Works will not give you Salvation, as Salvation is a gift and not something that is earned. But this doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want, because we know if we truly love God, we will keep His commandments.

God bless you!
